Individual counseling, local grief support groups, and online websites may help in working through your grief.

Online resources include discussion forums, educational tools, and a community for people who are dealing with grief. You may find one or more of the following websites to be helpful:

Grief Share

GriefShare is a special weekly seminar and support group for people who are grieving the death of someone close to them. It is open to anyone experiencing grief due to the loss of a loved one. You are welcome to join anytime throughout the dates.

Drew Michael Taylor Foundation

The Drew Michael Taylor Foundation provides grief education and support programs for individuals and families who are grieving the death of a loved one. In addition to Drew's Hope, a grief and loss support program for children, teens and families. The foundation also offers resources at the Drew's Hope Grief Center located at 946 Ashton Drive, Shippensburg, PA. Its includes grief support groups, community workshops, educational programming, and a grief and loss lending library of books and DVDs for both children and adults.

Drew's Hope

A grief and loss support program for children, teens, and their families who are grieving the death of a loved one. Drew's Hope is held at Luhrs Elementary School at Shippensburg University. The program is a free 7 week session held every spring and fall. Each session includes a light meal, followed by separate support groups with activities/play centers, therapy dog visits, grief education and discussion for adults, teens and children. The Perfect Blend: Coffee, Crafting & Conversation

A unique grief support group for adults who are grieving the death of a loved one (recent loss or years ago). The group meets every Wednesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until noon. Participants bring their own craft projects (or use their supplies) and while they craft, they talk about grief or everything but grief. RSVPs are requested when attending this group.

Support Groups

GriefKnits Support Group

This group meets the 2nd Thursday of each month from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. This is a group to meet others who are grieving the death of a loved one and learn to knit or crochet. You can bring your own supplies or use theirs.


Bereaved Spouse Support Group

This group meets the 1st Thursday of each month from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. The group is for widows and widowers of any age to support and encourage other grievers who "get it". The group will be co-facilitated by a bereaved spouse. RSVPs are requested.


Bereaved Parents Support Group

This group meets the 4th Thursday of each month from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. The group is for parents/guardians who are grieving the death of a child of any age, infant through adult. RSVPs are requested when attending this event.


Healing Together Support Group

This group meets the 3rd Thursday of each month from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. This education/discussion-based group is for any adult who is grieving the death of a loved one. RSVPs are requested when attending this event.

SpiriTrust Lutheran Home Care and Hospice

SpiritTrust Lutheran has more than 70 years of experience helping families work through grief and loss. They offer individual sessions with a bereavement coordinator, general and specialized support groups, and workshops on a range of topics. Each client receives support designed to meet his or her unique needs.


SpiritTrust Lutheran hosts a variety of Bereavement Programs that are available at no cost and are open to anyone in the community who has experienced a loss.

Sweet Grace Ministries

Sweet Grace Ministries offers resources to families enduring ectopic pregnancy, miscarriage, stillbirth, life limiting diagnosis, and infant death. They offer help and support in the form of baskets, comfort bags, photography, support groups, remembrance events, mentor couples, and more.


Their support groups are for any parent who has experienced loss, and includes nights of guest speakers, holiday groups, events specific for men and women, and more. Support persons are welcome to help families attend their first meeting.
