Yvonne Marie “Vonnie” Friese, 76, of Shippensburg, died Thursday, January 17, 2013 in the Chambersburg Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Vonnie was born Friday, April 10, 1936 in Shippensburg, Franklin County. She was a daughter of the late Homer M. and Nellie I. Wiles Farner.
Vonnie was a member of Mongul United Brethren Church. She and her husband Henry owned and operated a dairy farm for most of their life. Years ago during her youth Vonnie worked at the candy counter at G.C. Murphy’s in Shippensburg. She was a 1954 graduate of the Shippensburg High School. Vonnie was an avid Dale Ernhart, Jr. NASCAR fan, enjoyed flea-markets, collecting antique glassware, and most of all spending time with her family.
Vonnie is survived by her husband, Henry L. Friese, Sr.; three daughters, Diane I. Boyd and her husband Robert of Lurgan, Kimberly A. Roden of Williamsburg, MI, and Pamela S. Herb and her husband William of Shippensburg, one son, Henry L. “Hank” Friese, Jr. of Shippensburg; 9 grandchildren, Ryan and Brandon Boyd, Austin and Devon Roden, Derek, Dylan, and Brock Herb, Kera Heckman, and Shane Friese; five great grandchildren, three sisters, Peggy Rhinehart, and Mary Fraker both of Shippensburg, and Kay Smith of Chambersburg; a sister-in-law, Eva Farner of Shippensburg and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one brother, H. Wayne Farner.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 22, 2013 in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc., Shippensburg at 2:00 p.m. Officiating will be The Rev. Richard E. Mose and The Rev. H. Marc Nelson. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
