Winnie M. Lehman Hess, 83, of Shippensburg, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 from Providence Place in Chambersburg.
Born August 14, 1931 in Waynesboro, Franklin County, she was a daughter of the late Glenn A. and Winifred McCune Lehman. She was the wife of the late Keith L. Hess who died September 16, 2014. They were married March 21, 1951.
Winnie was a 1949 graduate of Waynesboro High School and attended the Shippensburg State Teachers College for two years. She was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Faith, most recently of the Middle Spring Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir. Winnie was a member of the Shippensburg University wives where she served as President for one year and enjoyed being a wife and took pride in her family.
She is survived by one son, Bruce L. (Carla) Hess, of Shippensburg; five daughters, Jayne L. Bowman of Hershey, Julie A. (Dennis) Drachbar, Kyla H. (Warren) Jones, all of Shippensburg, Molly H. (Roger) Coleman, and Jennifer H. (John) Amsley, all of Chambersburg; one sister Mary Louise Ciarricioca of Mechanicsburg; 17 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, William Lehman and an infant granddaughter, Elizabeth H. Jones.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Middle Spring Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Kimberley D. Wadlington officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the church.
