William R. “Butch” Wright, Jr., 67, of Shippensburg, died on the morning of Tuesday, February 24, 2015, at his home.
He was born on May 6, 1947, in Johnstown, a son of the late William R. and Saundra Sanderson Wright, Sr. Butch was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War, enlisting on June 14, 1965 and honorably discharged on February 3, 1967. He married Nancy L. Wiser on July 17, 1991, in Hagerstown, MD.
Earlier in life, Butch was employed at the Letterkenny Army Depot. He liked to be around people and was a frequent morning visitor to the former Hardee’s and more recently McDonalds to socialize. Butch enjoyed golfing and was a big Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He loved children, his dog Charlie, and spending time with his family.
Butch is survived by his wife of 23 years, Nancy; one sister, Diana (Joe) Wagner of Columbia City, IN; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert E. Wright.
His funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, February 27, 2015, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg. Pastor Jerome Kater will officiate. Interment with military honors conducted by the Shippensburg Area Veterans Council will follow in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
