William Wolfe

October 15, 1974 — October 1, 2017

William W. “Bill” Wolfe, Jr., 42, of Shippensburg, died on Sunday, October 1, 2017, with his loving wife by his side. He was a victim of a horrific mass shooting, while attending an outdoor country concert in Las Vegas.

Born on October 15, 1974, in Carlisle, he was a son of William W. and Linda D. Hershey Wolfe, of Shippensburg.

Bill was a 1993 graduate of the Shippensburg Area Senior High School, where he participated in Varsity wrestling. He was a 1998 graduate of Shippensburg University’s Applied Physics/Engineering Dual 3-2 program, earning a Physics degree at Shippensburg University and completing his Engineering degree at Penn State Main Campus. He was currently employed by Dewberry Engineers, Inc., Carlisle, as a senior project manager. Bill was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the American Society of Highway Engineers. He holds professional engineering licenses in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Ohio, and was a PennDot certified bridge safety inspector.

Bill attended the Newburg First Church of God.

He was the head coach of the Shippensburg Elementary Wrestling program and past president of the Shippensburg Wrestling Booster Club. He was a coach with the Shippensburg Area Little League, coaching his son’s teams since t-ball. Bill was very well respected in the community. He volunteered countless hours and was a role model for many area youth.

Bill loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, camping, gardening, and jogging. He was an avid Penn State fan and enjoyed attending their home games. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and loved his dogs.

Bill was a lover of country music. In the days and hours that preceded his death, he was having the time of his life with his wife, listening to his favorite country singers. His favorite artist was Eric Church. He was the first fan to shake Eric’s hand at the concert, and that made his day.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of twenty years, Robyn N. Finkey Wolfe; two sons, Ethan Robert Wolfe and Trevor William Wolfe; one brother, Scott W. (Cathy) Wolfe; one sister, Tammy J. Scull; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Steve and Cherie Finkey; a brother-in-law, Joseph W. Finkey, all of Shippensburg; a sister-in-law, Stephanie (David) Parson of Chambersburg, a brother-in-law, Ken Scull of Tennessee; five nieces; and one nephew.
