William H. “Smitty” Smith, 84, of Shippensburg, departed this life on the evening of Thursday, October 3, 2019, at his home.
He was born on August 5, 1935, in Kittanning, PA, the son of the late Kenneth and Violet (Bowser) Smith and married Joyce J. Mooney on February 27, 1987 in Shippensburg.
Smitty worked at the former PPG Industries, Mt. Holly Springs, retiring in 1991 as a supervisor. He was a member of the Kittanning East Brady Lodge #244, F. & A.M.
In his free time Smitty enjoyed working on his 32’ Ford and going to classic car shows. He also liked to travel out west to hunt Elk and was known to be very good at simply sitting around and “shooting the breeze.” Smitty was also an excellent carpenter, who built his own house alongside his wife, Joyce.
In addition to his wife of thirty-two years, Joyce, he is survived by two sons, Doug Smith and Scott Smith; one daughter, Judi Scott; two step-children, Gina Shatzer and Bruce Perry; eight grandchildren, Jason, Brandy, Kristie, Bryan, Brooke, Braydon, Taylor and Matthew; 6 great-grandchildren; his sister, Doris Jean Ortman; and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg.
There will be no public viewing, visitation, or funeral service.
