William E. Rogers, 94, a resident of Greenfield Assisted Living, Hagerstown, MD, formerly of Mercersburg and Orrstown, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2017 in the home.
He was born September 13, 1922 in Ogallah, KS. William was a son of the late Charles N. and Maude Oelkers Rogers.
He retired from the Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg. William was a United States Army Veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Orrstown Lodge #262 F & AM, Tall Cedars of Lebanon Valley Forest # 145, and he received the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award as a member of the Lurgan Township Lions Club.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Cula E. Ritchey Rogers who passed away February 20, 2009. Two brothers and six sisters are also deceased.
William is survived by two daughters, Diana E. Kelly and her companion, Josh C. Cox, Jr. of Mercersburg and Patricia M. Wood and her companion, Thomas A. Barrett of Fayetteville, two grandchildren, Mark A. Thompson of Frederick, MD and Gregory S. Thompson of Crownsville, MD, five great grandchildren, Gabrielle, Elijah, Ava, Liliana and Jackson and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 3, 2017 at the Roxbury United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Officiating will be The Rev. Peter M. Beddia. Burial will be held in the Roxbury Cemetery. A viewing will be held Sunday afternoon from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Shippensburg with Masonic services being held at 4:30 p.m. There will be no viewing at church.
