William J. "Bill" Jones

William J. “Bill” Jones, 88, of Chambersburg, departed this life on the morning of Sunday, September 22, 2024, at his home.

He was born on September 8, 1936, in New Castle, Lawrence Co., Pennsylvania, a son of the late Albert L. and Ella Mae (Flegger) Jones. Bill married Goldie M. Kelley on July 5, 1969, in Fayetteville. 

Bill was a United States Army Veteran. He worked as a pressman at the former James River Co., Chambersburg, for thirty-four years. After retiring from James River, Bill then worked for Franklin County Transportation for another eleven years. In his free time he enjoyed hunting and golfing.

In addition to his wife of fifty-five years, Goldie, he is survived by four children, Valerie A. Byrne of Shippensburg, Sharon L. Gantt and husband Jonathan of Shippensburg, Joey A. Jones of Shippensburg, and Kimberly Harvey and husband Mark of Kansas; nine grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by two brothers,one sister, and a granddaughter Andrea Gantt.

His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, September 30, 2024, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Interment with military honors will follow in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg. Viewing will be Sunday afternoon from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., and one hour prior to the service on Monday morning at the funeral home.
