William L. Henderson

William L. Henderson, 93, formerly of Upper Horse Valley, died on Saturday, September 4, 2010 at Green Ridge Village, Newville.
Born on October 14, 1916, in Hopewell Township., Cumberland County, a son of the late W. A. and Ethel Chamberlin Henderson.
William was a U.S. Navy veteran of W.W. II, inducted on July 5, 1943 and honorably discharged on December 5, 1945. He was a member of the Navy Seabees and held the rank of Carpenters Mate upon discharge. He then worked as a carpenter throughout his life
William was a life member of the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post #223 and Durff-Kuhn V.F.W. Post #6168, both of Shippensburg, a member of the Green Spring First Church of God, Newville, a member of Harrisburg’s Carpenter Union Local #287, and he loved doing various woodworking and carpentry projects throughout his life.
He is survived by his grandson, Jim (Audrey) Sherman of Amberson and preceded in death by his first wife, Gladys Henderson; one brother, John Henderson; one sister, Mildred Burkhart; a step-daughter, Donna Sherman; and his second wife, Louise Miller Henderson.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg. The Rev. Philip E. Steele will officiate. Interment, with military honors conducted by the Shippensburg Area Veterans Council, will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery. There will be no viewing or visitation.
