William Fresch

January 12, 1925 — January 8, 2011

William E. Fresch, Sr., 85, of Shippensburg, died Saturday, January 8, 2011 from the result of an accident close to Frederick, MD. His devoted wife, Betty L. Roney Fresch whom he married July 17, 1952, lost her life in the same accident.
Born January 12, 1925 in Vandergrift, PA, he was a son of the late Urvin S., Sr. and Ruth R. Shaeffer Fresch.
He was the owner and operator of the Rockville Trading Post in Maryland retiring in 1970, then retired in 1980 from HBW Group in Rockville, MD where he was an associate broker, and retired again in 1991 from Music Realty in Lake Wales, FL. William was a member of the Middle Spring Presbyterian Church and was a decorated United States Army veteran of World War II and Korea. He was a private pilot and enjoyed restoring wood and canvas canoes.
He is survived by one son, Paul A. Fresch and his wife Diane of Medina, OH, two daughters; Jeanne L. Nagle and her husband William of Palmyra, and Jo Ann Rinehart and her husband Donald of Mechanicsburg, eleven grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, William E. Fresch, Jr. who died November 30, 1986, a daughter Nancy L. Fresch who died October 28, 2008, a sister, Mary Elizabeth Carpenter who died in 1970 and a brother Urvin S. Fresch, Jr. who died in 2008.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 16, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Middle Spring Presbyterian Church, 135 Middle Spring Road, Shippensburg. Military honors by the Shippensburg VFW and American Legion Posts will be conducted after the funeral service. Officiating will be The Rev. Derek & The Rev. Kimberley Wadlington and The Rev. James Richwine. A private burial will be held in the Middle Spring Cemetery. Visitations will be held for family and friends Saturday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Shippensburg and one hour prior to the services in church on Sunday.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Middle Spring Presbyterian Church 135 Middle Spring Road, Shippensburg, PA 17257.
