William Lee “Bill” Curtis, 74, of Shippensburg, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, July 20, 2019 surrounded by his loving family.
Born Wednesday, January 17, 1945 in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late William Osinger and Hazel Marie Pisle Curtis.
Bill was a 1964 graduate of the Shippensburg Area Senior High School. He retired in 1998 from Letterkenny Army Depot where he worked as a sandblaster with 25 years of service.
He was a member of the Mainsville Church, Shippensburg. Bill was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose # 842, Chambersburg, he was a former firefighter, loved hunting, fishing, and mowing his grass.
Bill is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sondra J. “Sandy” Christman Curtis, whom he married May 29, 1970; two daughters, Missy L. Curtis, and Nita R. Gibbons, both of Shippensburg; one son, Mark A. (Dawn) Curtis, Chambersburg; two granddaughters, Amanda L. Curtis, Shippensburg, and Samantha J. Curtis, Chambersburg; one great grandson, Dakota A. Shank, Shippensburg; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, LaShell Curtis, who passed away in 1973.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 25, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Mainsville Church, 1354 Mainsville Rd., Shippensburg, with the Rev. Donald L. Herb and the Rev. Robert L. Mentzer officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. A viewing will be held Wednesday, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc., and also one hour prior to the service on Thursday, in the church.
