William G. ‘Bill” Wert, 65, of Newville, died on March 3, 2011 at the Forrest Park Health Center, Carlisle.

Born on November 15, 1945, in Carlisle, a son of Paul Wert and the late Viola Thumma Wert.

Bill was employed as a driver for Overnight Freight, which became part of UPS Freight, Mechanicsburg. He worked for UPS, up until he became ill.

Bill was a big fan of NASCAR. Earlier in life he played guitar and sang in a band and was a member of many of the area social clubs. Bill was very dedicated to his job, fellow employees, and the trucking profession.

He is survived by his companion, Sheila Miller of Shippensburg; his son, Donald G. Wert of Newville; his daughter, Denise Morrison of Carlisle; two sisters, Paula Heckman of Carlisle and Trishia Finkey of Tallahassee, FL; one brother, Robert E. (Suzy) Wert of Mechanicsburg; two grandsons; one granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg. The Rev. Alan Robinson will officiate. Interment will be in the Westminster Cemetery, Carlisle. Viewing will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, at the funeral home.
