Wayne E. Hershey, Sr., 79, lifelong resident of Shippensburg, departed this life on the morning of Thursday, February 7, 2019, at his home surrounded by his family.

Wayne worked as a refrigeration and air conditioning supervisor for thirty-five years at Shippensburg University, retiring in 2001. He was a member of the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post #223 and the Shippensburg Fish and Game.

He was known as a jack of all trades and enjoyed doing home remodeling type of projects around his home and also for a lot of his other family members too. Wayne was very handy and there was very little that he couldn’t do, even working on cars was something that Wayne could take on. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Wayne loved the outdoors and spent much time hunting and fishing with many friends and family.

He is survived by two sons, Wayne E. Hershey, Jr., and wife Tammie and Shane M. Hershey and wife Dianne, both of Shippensburg; one daughter, Amy H. Morris and husband Rick of Shippensburg; five grandchildren, Luke and Paige Hershey and Ricky, Rylan, and Roen Morris, all of Shippensburg; two sisters, Mildred Priest and Sandy Hockenberry and husband Jack, both of Shippensburg; and many, many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Wayne was preceded in death by four sisters, Loretta Craig, Mary Jane Bender, V. Jean Kelley, and Pat Lovell; and five brothers, Daniel Hershey, John Hershey, Jr., Bruce Hershey, Frank Hershey, Sr., and Richard Hershey.

His funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, February, 9, 2019, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg, with Dee Steele officiating. Interment will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
