Wayne Culbertson

Wayne A. Culbertson, 73, of Newburg, went to be with his heavenly Father on Thursday, December 3, 2020 in the York Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Sunday, May 18, 1947 in Carlisle, PA. Wayne was a son of the late Paul K. and Minerva A. (Rotz) Culbertson.

For over 40 years Wayne was the owner and operator of Culbertson’s Construction. After retirement he was the maintenance man for the Episcopal Home in Shippensburg. He was a 1965 graduate of the Shippensburg High School. Wayne was an avid and dedicated baseball player and coach. He was a loyal man of God. Wayne enjoyed gardening, woodworking, bowling, doing anything with his hands and most of all spending time with his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Esther L. (Yohe) Culbertson; five children, Kenneth F. Culbertson and his wife Michelle, Ronald A. Culbertson and his wife Tina, all of Newburg, David P. Culbertson and his wife Diane of Schenectady, NY, Jennifer L. Karper and her husband Jamie and Gerald L. Culbertson, all of Newburg; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Fred A. and John A. Culbertson of Shippensburg; one sister, Joan A. Smith of Newburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Michael Wilson.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at 11 a.m. in the Mowersville Brethren in Christ Church, Newburg. Officiating will be The Rev. David S. Halteman. Burial will be in Otterbein Cemetery. A viewing will be held Tuesday from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. in the church.
