Wanda Fae Forney

Wanda Fae Forney, 95, originally from Bakersville, PA, ended her Earthly life on the morning of Thursday, September 26, 2024, at UPMC Carlisle Hospital, Carlisle, PA.

She was born on September 3, 1929, in Bakersville, Somerset County, PA. Fae was the daughter of the late Josiah Specht II and Leona Elizabeth Bruner. 

Fae married Edward Grant Forney on October 25, 1958, in the Church of the Reformation Lutheran Church, Washington, DC. He preceded her in death on December 20, 1989.

Fae graduated from Somerset High School, Somerset, PA. Home of the Eagles – go black & orange! She was recruited right out of high school for a job with the FBI, in Washington, DC. 

She worked as a security guard for the FBI under J. Edgar Hoover for 13 years, retiring in 1960. She loved every minute she worked for the FBI, as well as just living in and around Washington, DC.

She was a life-long Lutheran. Her home church was Mt. Zion Lutheran, in Bakersville, PA. After moving to Shippensburg, PA, she attended Memorial Lutheran Church, in Shippensburg.

In her free time, Fae loved enthusiastically watching Pittsburgh Pirates baseball, square dancing, mini-golf [her hole-in-one record was phenomenal], and creaming her daughter & son-in-law in card, board, and dice games. 

She was an avid fan of the British Royal Family, especially Princess Catherine. In fact, the day after she passed, she got a nice note from her. 

Fae is survived by her daughter, Miriam Elizabeth “Mimi” Waybright, and her son-in-law, Pastor Timothy James Waybright, of Woodsboro, MD. 

Her funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. There will be no public viewing or visitation. Funeral arrangements have been suspended. Interment will be private.
