Walter E. Hock, 82, of Orrstown Road, Shippensburg, died Friday, May 3, 2013 in the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born Saturday, March 14, 1931 in Shippensburg, he was a son of the late Rankin S. and Annie Henderson Hock.
Walter was a member of the Hope Reformed Presbyterian Church, Shippensburg. He served 21 years in the United States Army serving in the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He retired from the Shippensburg University as a custodian.
Walter was a life member of both the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post # 223, along with their (Minutemen) and the Durff-Kuhn VFW Post # 6168, a member of the Hub City Social Club all in Shippensburg, a life member of the Loyal Order of Moose Post # 842, and the Landis–McCleaf Marine Corp League both in Chambersburg, and was an avid Washington Redskins fan and loved building puzzle’s.
Surviving is his wife of 56 years, Miriam E. Ocker Hock, one son, Rankin E. Hock and his wife Donna, two grandsons, Benjamin D. and Justin D. Hock, one brother, Frank Hock, all of Shippensburg; one sister, Mary Hock of Orrstown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 10, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc., with Pastor Jeff Cottone officiating. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens with military honors conducted by the Shippensburg Veterans Council. A viewing will be held Thursday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
