Vonnie Helman

Vonnie M. Ile Helman, 81, of Newburg, departed this life on the evening of Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at the Falling Spring Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

She was born on July 21, 1937, in Mowersville, a daughter of the late Philip A. and Mamie R. O’Donnell Ile. Vonnie was a 1956 graduate of Chambersburg High School and married Charles A. Helman on November 17, 1962. He preceded her in death on October 1, 1997.

Vonnie worked at Shippensburg University, in the housekeeping department, retiring in March of 2003, after forty-seven years of employment. In her free time she enjoyed visiting her family and playing dominoes.

She is survived by one brother, Paul D. (Mary Jane) Ile of Shippensburg; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Vonnie was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur J. Ile, Sr. and Philip A. Ile, Jr.; and two sisters, Ruth M. Mellinger and Mary M. Runshaw.

Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., on Saturday, August 4, 2018, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Interment will follow in the Otterbein Cemetery. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
