Vivian M. (Mathna) Dangler, 80, of Shippensburg, passed away the evening of Sunday, September 3, 2023 at the Chambersburg Hospital.
She was born on Wednesday, April 14, 1943 in Shippensburg, a daughter of the late Herbert C. and Lucy E. (Nye) Mathna.
Vivian was a 1961 graduate of the Shippensburg High School. After high school, she worked as a seamstress for over 36 years for the former J. Schoeneman Company. She was a life member of both the Amvets Post #224, Chambersburg and Durff-Kuhn VFW Post #6168, Shippensburg, and attended the former Mongul United Brethren Church. Vivian had a love for cats and enjoyed working on puzzles.
She is survived by her three sons, Rodney L. Dangler of Shippensburg, Richard E. Dangler of Orrstown, and Michael A. (Lori) Dangler of Orrstown; three grandchildren, Garin Dangler, Trent Dangler of Fayetteville, and Bethany (Kurt) Eisele of Plantsville, CT; three brothers, Melvin Mathna of Pleasant Hall, Clark (Mary) Mathna of Orrstown, and Stanley Mathna of Newburg; two sisters, Nancy Piper of Orrstown and Helen Carlson of Wisconsin; one sister-in-law, Alice Mathna; and her cat, Pepper.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Dangler who passed away on September 18, 2011. Also preceding her in death was one daughter-in-law, Karen Dangler; and three brothers, T. Dallas, Dean, and Jay Mathna.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 8, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the Rising Hope Church (formally Mongul U.B.) with Pastor Brent Liechty officiating. Burial will follow in the Mongul Cemetery. A viewing will be held Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.
