Virginia S. Shields, 82, of Shippensburg, passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at home.
She was born June 13, 1933 in Carlisle. Virginia was a daughter of the late Boyd and Frances Egolf Martin.
She and her late husband, Harold Shields, Sr. co-owned the former Shield’s Cab Company in Carlisle.
Virginia enjoyed camping, the Huntsdale fair, knitting, singing with her husband, going to the beach, and red cardinals. She was an avid fan of Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and Jr., a Redskins fan, and most of all enjoyed spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Virginia is survived by six children, Rodney (Sis) Shields, of Gardners, Harold (Mary) Shields, Sr. of Shippensburg, Dennis (Tammy) Shields of Upper Strasburg, Lorrie (Dave) Simon of Newville, Scott Shields of Shippensburg, Kristie (Leroy, Jr.) Sheriff of Shippensburg, two sisters, Della Vogel of Shippensburg, and Irene Martin of Mechanicsburg, one brother, Richard Martin of Carlisle, 14 grandchildren, Jody Gibson, Malinda Gruver, Heather Shields, Dennis Shields, Jr., Justin Stouffer, Brandon Stouffer, Cory Stouffer, Shawnta Stouffer, Tanya Simon, Brandy Ray, Kyle Sheriff, Hunter Sheriff, Tyler Simon, and Eric Simon, numerous step grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, Dylan, Aynslie, Eliza, Blake, Lexi, Breonna, Cole, Alex, Faith, Denny, Emma, Tony, Kylie, Rylee, Nolan, Sean, Ciara, Bentley, Ryne, Tristan, Dante, and Kaden, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will held Monday, July 27, 2015 in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Shippensburg at 1 p.m. Officiating will be The Rev. J.R. Wells. Burial will be held in the Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held Sunday evening from 5-7 p.m. in the funeral home.
