Virginia A. "Ginny" Sailhamer

Virginia A. “Ginny” Sailhamer, 97, of Shippensburg, departed this life on the afternoon of Friday, October 26, 2024, at her home.

She was born on November 1, 1926, in Spring Run, Franklin County, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Carson and Eva (Clugston) Goshorn. Ginny was a 1945 graduate of Fannett Township High School, a class of thirteen students. She married Lewis W. Sailhamer on June 26, 1948, in Hagerstown, MD. He preceded her in death on January 29, 2015.

Early in life, Ginny worked as a “thread girl” at many of the former local area garment factories, however she was primarily a homemaker throughout her life. Ginny always took great pride in keeping and maintaining a clean and welcoming home. She was a longtime member of the Shippensburg First Church of God.

Ginny is survived by a son, Willis C. Sailhamer and wife Candy; grandson, Brent A. Sailhamer and wife Leah; daughter-in-law, Janet Sailhamer; granddaughter Rhonda Lea Dyson and husband John; five great grandchildren to whom she was affectionately known as “G.G.”; brother, Larry Goshorn and wife Barb; sisters-in-law, Lucy and Arlene Goshorn; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ginny was preceded in death by a son, Ronald L. Sailhamer; a sister, Venus Kessler; three brothers, Charles, Wayne, and Harold Goshorn; and sister-in-law, Marcella Goshorn.

Ginny’s family wishes to express sincere gratitude and appreciation to SpiriTrust Lutheran Home Care and Hospice for their compassion, care, and kindness shown in all aspects of her final journey.

Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Pastor Gary Hornbaker will officiate. Interment will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service on Wednesday morning at the funeral home.
