Virginia Bowles

Virginia W. Bowles, 84, of Chambersburg, died on the morning of Thursday, August 16, 2012, at Menno Haven.
She was born on June 29, 1928, in Roanoke, VA., a daughter of the late Clarence and Sally Maude Broghman Webb. Virginia married Mr. George M. Bowles, Jr., and they spent 43 years happily married together. He preceded her in death on November 16, 1991.
Virginia and George moved to the area in 1974 and opened the former Factory Furniture, Chambersburg, which they owned and operated until retiring in 1996.
She is survived by her four children, Tim A. (Nancy) Bowles of Richmond, VA, Vickie B. (Ronald L.) Poff of Fincastle, VA, Cindy M. (Charles) Shaffer of Chambersburg, and Sharon B. (Gene) Brown of Chambersburg; five grandchildren, Steven R. Brown, Stacy J. Truman, Dennis W. Brown, Carrie L. Poff-Tripi, and Ryan N. Poff; five great grandchildren, Kyler and Logan Brown, Katelyn and Mason Truman, and Adelyn Tripi; and her very special friends and neighbors.
In addition to her parents and husband, Virginia was preceded in death by her sister, Hazel Showalter, and her beloved family pet, Mugsey.
Her memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, August 25, 2012, at the Menno Haven Chapel, Chambersburg. The Rev. Clint Bingaman will officiate. Interment will be in the Walnut Grove Union Cemetery, Montvale, VA. Visitation will be held one half- hour prior to the service on Saturday, at the Menno Haven Chapel.
Virginia’s family would like to express their gratitude to the caregivers at Lutheran Home Care and Menno Haven for the wonderful care they provided to her throughout her illness and time spent there.
