Virginia Bender

Virginia K. Bender, 88, of Chambersburg, passed away Friday, November 5, 2010 in the Community General Osteopathic Hospital, Harrisburg.
Born October 20, 1922 in Carlisle, Cumberland County; she was a daughter of the late Clarence F. and Verna Roney Kramer.
She was a retired auditor for the PA Turnpike Commission and then worked for the A & P Grocery Store in Chambersburg for over 13 years. Virginia was a member of the King Street United Brethren Church in Chambersburg and the Franklin County Farm Women’s Group. She was a graduate of the Carlisle High School.
She was preceded in death by her husband Herman P. Bender who died May 21, 1992 two brothers; Ross and Robert Kramer and a sister Ella Bender are also deceased.
Virginia is survived by a son Richard P. Bender and his wife LeeAnne of Chambersburg, a daughter Melinda Jo Wise and her husband Ted of Shippensburg, four grandchildren; Jocelyn T. and Justyna E. Wise both of Shippensburg, Tiffani R. Bender of Savannah, GA, and Michael T. Bender of Ashville, NC, one sister Joyce Kline and her husband Eugene of York, a sister in law Beulah Bender of Carlisle, and a brother in law Robert Howell of Mt. Holly Springs, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 11, 2010 in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc., Shippensburg at 2 P.M. Officiating will be The Rev. Lester F. Stine. Burial will be in the Letort Cemetery, Carlisle. A viewing will be held Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
