Victoria Mozingo

April 15, 1948 — April 12, 2013

Victoria J. “Vickie” Mozingo, 64, of Newburg, died on the evening of Friday, April 12, 2013, at her home.

She was born on April 15, 1948, in Walnut Bottom, a daughter of the late Ray A. and Mildred M. Kline Coy. Vickie then married Mr. Gary L. Mozingo, Sr., on October 30, 1965, at the Prince Street United Brethren Church, Shippensburg.

After marriage and starting a family, Vickie went on to work as the Secretary of Prince St. U.B.C., from 1975 until 1990 and then as a Nurses Aide, at the former Piney Mountain Nursing Home, retiring in 2003.

Vickie had many hobbies. She was a voracious reader of books, a writer of poetry, a pianist, loved to garden around her home, and was very skilled at making flower arrangements. In years past, Vickie liked to travel and vacation with her family, especially to spend time at one of her favorite places, the family cabin that her grandfather built, at the Rhodes Grove Church Camp. As a long time member of the Prince St. U.B.C., she was actively involved in teaching Sunday School and youth group activities, and also very involved with her own children’s music ministry. Her family; immediate, extended, and church, were of utmost importance to Vickie. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Gary L. Mozingo, Sr.; a son, Gary L. Mozingo, Jr. and wife Michele of Flemington, NJ; her daughter, Shelly M. Porter and husband Jeffrey of Shippensburg; four grandchildren, Zachary, Shenay, Joseph and Laryssa; one sister, Lola (Daniel) Cohick of Shippensburg; her brother, Dennis (Terrie) Coy of Carlisle; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her first born son, Richie Lee Mozingo.

Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at the Prince Street United Brethren Church, Shippensburg. The Rev. James O. Bolich will officiate. Interment will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Viewing will be Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Prince St. U.B.C. at 17 N. Penn St. Shippensburg, PA 17257 or the Rhodes Grove Church Camp at 7693 Browns Mill Road Chambersburg, PA 17202.
