Victor Vaughn

February 29, 1932 — May 5, 2013

Victor H. “Pap” Vaughn, Sr., 81, of Chambersburg, died unexpectedly on the morning of Sunday, May 5, 2013, at his home.

He was born on February 29, 1932, in Newburg, a son of the late William R. and Rhoda M. Cramer Vaughn and was the husband of Charlotte L. Hurley Vaughn, who passed away on November 11, 2012.

Victor was a U.S. Army Veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam War. He continued in service to his country for 26 years, retiring in 1976. He then worked as a Gate Guard at the Letterkenny Army Depot, retiring from there in 1993.

He was a member of the Charles H. Nitterhouse V.F.W. Post #1599 and the AmVets Post # 224, both of Chambersburg. He served as an Honor Guard, conducting military honors, with the Nitterhouse V.F.W Post # 1599, for over 20 years. Victor was a good man with few complaints in life. Heaven certainly gained a gem.

Victor is survived by his son, Victor H. Vaughn, Jr. of Camp Hill; two daughters, Ilene (Donald) Crouse of Chambersburg and Debbie (Perry) Franzoni of Shippensburg; five grandchildren, Mike Vaughn of West Virginia, Chrissy (Scott) Gorby of Chambersburg, Carrie (Jesse) Edwards of Chambersburg, Heather Franzoni of Shippensburg, and Brian Franzoni of Shippensburg; five great grandchildren, Austin Gorby, Ethan Vaughn, Kaitlin Gorby, Cole Edwards, and Kahlan Edwards; five sisters, Esther Nelson of Harrisburg, Isabel Halder of Shippensburg, Pauline Rotz of Shippensburg, Ardell Snouffer of New Jersey, and Martha Myers of Maryland; three brothers, Glen Vaughn of Shippensburg, Robert Vaughn of Shippensburg, and Donald Vaughn of Illinois.

In addition to his parents and wife, Victor was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.

His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 10, 2013, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg. The Rev. Paul K. Hauk will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at P.O. Box 758517 Topeka, KS 66675.
