Vesta M. Spidle, 88, of Shippensburg, passed away the morning of Saturday, July 3, 2021 at the Garrison Estates Assisted Living, Baltimore, MD.
She was born on May 16, 1933 in Amberson, a daughter of the late Ray J. and Ruth G. (Timmons) Eckenrode.
Vesta was a graduate of the Fannett Township High School in Dry Run. She was the co-owner and operator of Spidle’s Auto Service & Auto Body Shop, Spidle’s Auto Sales, Spidle’s Gas Station, and Spidle’s Excavating & Paving Company, all in Shippensburg. Vesta was also a member of the Amberson United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Cathy Ann (Terry L.) Beam of Chambersburg; one granddaughter, Tessa R. (Michael) Beam Jacobs of Chambersburg; three great-grandchildren, Brayden, Sophia, and Ava Jacobs; two sisters-in-law, Jane Spidle Freeman and Marie Stevens Eckenrode; one niece, Pat Eckenrode Fisher; and a special friend, Nancy Stevens.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Edward Spidle, who passed away on July 20, 1983. Also preceding her in death are one brother, John Eckenrode and one sister, Ada Boher.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Pastor Ken Reid will officiate. A viewing will be held Tuesday, July 6, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.
