Verna B. “Bonnie” Vaughn, 84, of Shippensburg, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at the West Shore Hospital in Mechanicsburg.
Born Sunday, May 18, 1930 in Shippensburg, she was a daughter of the late Walter K. and Margaret Jane Cressler Mitten.
Bonnie was a 1948 graduate of the Shippensburg Area Senior High School. She was a member of Mongul United Brethren Church, and attended the Shippensburg Church of the Nazarene.
She retired from the Shippensburg University as a Library Technician. Bonnie enjoyed quilting, working in her flower garden and loved and cherished her family.
She is survived by one son, Robin M. Vaughn and his wife Jeree; one daughter, Susan J. German and her husband, David all of Shippensburg; one granddaughter, Kristina Freeman; three grandsons, Matthew Vaughn, Andrew and Ryan German; three great granddaughters, Elizabeth and Madison Vaughn, and Jillian German; one great grandson, Kyler Freeman; and four step great grandsons, Andrew and Stephen Fogelsanger and Andrew and Michael Masker. Also surviving are three sisters in-law, Delora and Betty Jayne Mitten and Wanda McNamara; and many devoted nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glen R. Vaughn who died May 25, 2009 and two brothers, Robert and Lewis “Sonny” Mitten.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc., with the Rev. Ted Mitten and the Rev. Melissa Mankamyer officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday in the funeral home.
