Vadematie Chan, 66, of Shippensburg, PA., passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at her home with her family by her side.
Born Monday, December 27, 1954 in Guyana, she was a daughter of the late Basdeo and Sancharie Etwaroo.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Mohamed J. Chan; three daughters, Ravina Amanda Chan, Shippensburg, Samia Nadia Chan, and son in-law, David Poonwassie, Bronx, NY, and Devika Karishma Chan, and fiancé, Kenrick Singh, Shippensburg; one grandson, Aidan Poonwassie, Bronx, NY, and one granddaughter, Amara Vadanna Delvalle, Shippensburg; as well as an extended family which includes eight siblings; numerous nieces and nephews; sisters and brothers in-law; loving friends and neighbors.
Vadematie retired in 2005 from the Health Care field as a Social Worker. She was a member of Vishnu Mandir.
She loved and cherished her family. She loved gardening, meditation, and yoga. Vadematie loved children and had a passion for eating.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 29, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc., with Pandit Vyas Sukul officiating. Burial will be private. A visitation will be held Wednesday, from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
