Twyla D. Shaffer, 74, of Shippensburg departed this life on the evening of Saturday, November 5, 2016.
Born on December 14, 1941, in Newburg, a daughter of the late Lawrence E. and Thursa Shoap Peters.
Twyla was a homemaker throughout her life. In her younger years, she worked at the former U-Wanna-Wash Frock as a seamstress. She was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church, Newburg. In her free time, Twyla enjoyed taking care of her cats, listening to the radio, and watching television, especially baseball, wrestling, and Walker Texas Ranger with Chuck Norris.
She is survived by her son, Edward R. (companion Corinne Gallo) Smith of Shippensburg; two daughters, Lucinda K. Plante of St. Thomas and Shirley J. (Carl) Strite both of Chambersburg; two step-sons, Samuel R. Shaffer of Deadwood, SD and Cloyd J. (Brenda) Shaffer of Shippensburg; one step-daughter, Tina M. Porter of Orange, AL; 8 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; two sisters, Verna Wentling of Jonestown and Shirley Rotz of Shippensburg; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Twyla was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel L. Shaffer, who died on April 28, 2014; two brothers, John Mullen and Jack Shoap; and two sisters, Betty Ditzler and Virginia Greenawalt.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, November 9, 2016, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg. Interment will follow in the Zion Cemetery, Newburg. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
