Travis Henry

Travis E. Henry, 32, of 365 Bradley Lane, Shippensburg, died Sunday, April 4, 2010 at home.

He was born May 6, 1977 in Chambersburg, Franklin County; he was a son of Russell L. Henry and Kimberly R. Martin Shope both of Shippensburg.

He was currently a Shippensburg University Police Officer and prior to that was an officer for seven years with the University Park Police Department in Maryland. Travis was a United States Army veteran where he was a Staff Sergeant.

He was a 1999 graduate of Shippensburg University and a 1995 graduate of the Shippensburg Area Senior High School. Travis was a member of the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post # 223 and the Durff-Kuhn VFW Post # 6168 both in Shippensburg and the Fraternal Order of Police.

He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Tylor Lee Henry who died November 17, 1982 and a grandfather, Alvin “Ike” Martin, Sr. who died October 11, 2001.

In addition to his parents he is survived by his companion, Kathy Whisenant of Nashville, TN, a daughter, Braelyn Henry of Olney, MD, a sister, Ruschelle L. Henry of Shippensburg, maternal grandmother, Goldie E. Zimmerman Martin of Shippensburg, a step father, Alan Shope of Shippensburg, his father’s companion Wendy Perry of Shippensburg, a niece, Miliani and a nephew, McKane both of Shippensburg.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 9, 2010 in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc., Shippensburg at 2:00 p.m. Officiating will be The Rev. James O. Bolich. Burial with police and military honors will be conducted in Spring Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
