Thomas S. Neil of Northgate at Menno Haven, Chambersburg, PA passed away April 12 at Chambersburg Hospital.

Tom was born in Belle Vernon PA on January 17, 1928, son of the late Thomas S. and Dorothy M. Hurst Neil.

A native of Belle Vernon, PA, Neil graduated from Belle Vernon High School and attended the University of Pittsburgh.

Immediately after college, he joined the family business, Thomas S. Neil, Inc. a successful local commercial electrical contractor serving Southeast Pennsylvania that continued in business until his retirement after which he enjoyed playing golf and trap shooting. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and took great pride in the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren.

Well known in the Mon-Valley, Neil was a member of Belle Vernon Masonic Lodge #643 where he served as Master. He was also a member of Uniontown Lodge of Perfection and the Syria Shrine.

He served as president of the Belle Vernon Rotary where he was a member for many years. Neil was named a Paul Harris Fellow for his outstanding service to the organization.

Neil is survived by his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Elizabeth (Betty) Rogers Neil, originally from Uniontown, PA. The two met while they were campers at Jumonville Methodist Training Center as young adults, and married at the Jumonville Chapel on August 18, 1951.

Also surviving are his children, Thomas S. (Elizabeth) Neil of Dexter, MI and their children Eva and Thomas, and his two daughters, Elizabeth (Michael) Denning of Shippensburg, PA and their children Elizabeth and Neil, and Margaret (Ali) Rahimi of Farmington, and their children Arthur and Alexander.

A memorial service is scheduled for 11 am on Saturday, April 16 at the Menno Village Chapel, 1275 Scotland Avenue, Chambersburg. Burial will be private. Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg, has been entrusted with Tom’s funeral arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may sent to the Jumonville, 887 Jumonville Road, Hopwood, PA 15445.
