Thomas “Dallas” Mathna, 77, of Shippensburg, PA passed away in peace at the UPMC Pinnacle West Shore hospital on December 20, 2021 in the presence of his immediate family. He was the son of the late Herbert C. Mathna and Lucy E. Mathna (Nye).
Dallas is survived by his loving wife Alice Mathna, son Scott Mathna and wife Nancy, son Tom Mathna and wife Stacey, and daughter Lori Pomeroy and husband Troy, grandchildren Zachary wife Jennifer, Mackenzie husband Jared, Noah wife Skylar, Adam, Julie and fiancé Shawn , and Megan husband Kyle, great grandchildren Layne, Collin, Wyatt, and Harper. He is survived by sisters Nancy Piper, Vivian Dangler, Helen Carlson and brothers Melvin, Clark and wife Mary, and Stanley. His brother Jay, and twin brother, Dean, predeceased him.
He was a dedicated husband; Dallas and Alice were a team and a devoted loving married couple for 59 years. They were rarely separated and an inspiration to all who knew them. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and spent countless hours watching them participate in sports. Dallas and Alice enjoyed traveling across the United States visiting 47 states. He loved carpentry and time in his “shop,” building whatever craft projects his children or friends desired. Dallas enjoyed bowling and golf until his back issues prevented doing so. He was one of the original coaches of the Hub City Steelers midget football team.
Dallas retired from SKF Industries after 31 years. He worked with his father in construction prior to joining SKF Industries and continued his passion for construction after his retirement.
Dallas was a long-term member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6168, American Legion Post 223, Patriotic Order Son’s of America, Hub City Club, Minnequa Social Club 375, Masonic Lodge 315, and Scottish Rite.
His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Monday, December 27, 2021, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Pastor Rick Fischl will officiate. Interment will follow in the Mongul Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., and Masonic Rites will be conducted at the beginning of the service on Monday afternoon at the funeral home.
