Thomas William Hockersmith, 60, of Shippensburg, passed away Sunday, March 5, 2017 at the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born Sunday, July 8, 1956 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Charles Samuel Hockersmith and Marietta Maxine Potter Hockersmith of Shippensburg.
Thomas was a United States Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He was presently employed at Letterkenny Army Depot where he worked as a mechanic. Tom owned and operated Hockersmith Automotive Service Center in Shippensburg.
He was an avid New York Giant and NASCAR fan, loved to go striper fishing, spending time with his grandchildren and hanging out with his friends in his garage.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 34 years, Kathy M. Dehart Hockersmith whom he married June 4, 1983, two daughters, April N. Hockersmith-Piper, and Stephanie L. Hockersmith, four grandchildren, Devondre T., Tiana M., Avian W. Hockersmith, and Jaxon M. Piper, all of Shippensburg, two brothers, Charles Edwin Hockersmith of Newark, DE., John Perry Hockersmith of Shippensburg, one sister, Marlene Reba Quick, San Antonio, TX.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 10, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium with the Rev. Daniel E. Cluck officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Shippensburg Veterans Council. A viewing will be held Thursday, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service one Friday in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 924 North Colonial Ave., York, PA 17403.
