Thelma Joyce Mellott, 88, of Fayetteville, passed away Sunday, August 4, 2024 at the Chambersburg Hospital.

Born Sunday, August 25, 1935 in Scotland, Franklin County, she was a daughter of the late Frank Jacob and Beatrice Orlea Cooper Cook.

Thelma was a 1953 graduate of the Chambersburg Area Senior High School. She retired from the former Stanley Company with over 50 years of service.

She attended the Mt. Pleasant United Brethren Church, Chambersburg. Thelma was a member of AARP, the Mall Walkers, and the Golden Agers. She enjoyed knitting, reading, and traveling. Thelma loved and cherished her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Robert B. “Bob” Mellott, whom she married December 4, 1955; one daughter, Cindy J. (Russell) Phenicie, Mercersburg; one granddaughter, Pamela J. (Herb) Hoffeditz, Broadway, VA; one grandson, Russell R. Phenicie, Mercersburg; six great grandchildren, Herschel H. Hoffeditz, Carina J. Hoffeditz, both of Broadway, VA, Reuben Phenicie, Nora J. Phenicie, Silas E. Phenicie, and Felicity J. Phenicie, all of Mercersburg, PA; one sister, Jane Kessel, Ripley, OH; and two brothers, John Cook, Scotland, and Clifford Cook, Shippensburg.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Blain and James Cook; and one sister, Winifred Bass.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 8, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc., with The Rev. Harold E. Yeager officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
