Thelma A. Gage, 89, of Shippensburg, passed away Sunday, September 22, 2019 at the Shippensburg Health Care Center.
Born Monday, March 31, 1930 in Swedesboro, NJ, she was a daughter of the late William N. and Ada M. Wiltsee Mathis.
Thelma was a member of the Shippensburg Nazarene Church. She worked as an Independent Home Care Provider, which one of her most memorable times was caring for Edith Davis, whom was the mother of the former First Lady, Nancy Reagan. She loved to crochet and numerous people are enjoying her work today.
Thelma was loved and cherished by everyone, and will be sadly missed.
She is survived by two sons, Keith D. and Robert A. Gage; one daughter, Kathryn M. Gage, all of Shippensburg; two sisters, Virginia E. Gauntt, and Anne Carlson, both of New Jersey; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Rev. Rupert F. Gage, whom passed away May 7, 2004; and six siblings.
Her funeral service will be held Thursday, September 26, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc., with the Rev. Dale Detweiler officiating. Burial will held Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. in the Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service on Thursday, in the funeral home.
