Thelma Alleman

Thelma Gephart Alleman, 94, of Waynesboro, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at her daughter’s home.

Born Thursday, May 13, 1926 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late Enoch D. and Pearl E. Holtry Gephart.

She was a 1944 graduate of the Shippensburg High School. Upon graduation she worked as a secretary in the Accounting Department at the Beistle Company in Shippensburg.
Thelma was a member of Prince Street United Brethren Church and their Willing Workers Sunday School Class, she also taught 2nd grade Sunday school class for 32 years.

She was Co-Chairman of the Shippensburg Fair Home Products Building for 38 years, a member of the Southampton Township Elections Board for 20 years, a member of the Franklin County Farm Women’s Association Group # 2 and served on the State Farm Women’s Committee. She loved sewing and was a 4-H leader in the girls sewing club.

Thelma spent her adult life working alongside her husband on their family farm. She enjoyed square dancing, snowmobiling, and horseback riding. She enjoyed cooking for family celebrations and growing flowers, especially roses. Later in life she loved staying in Pennsylvania and Virginia with her two daughters.

She is survived by one daughter, Cynthia (John) Flood, Waynesboro; grandchildren, Marcus Wayne Flood, Jessica Flood Wilson, Levi E. Dunmire, Shannon E. Dunmire and Noah E. Dunmire; great grandchildren, Ethan , Ellie, Jared, Juliana, Dylan, Lauren, Dalton, Devon, Hailey and Abigail.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Nelson Alleman who died October 25, 2003; one daughter, Jill Dunmire who died in 2019 and one granddaughter, Maggie Dunmire who died in 2003.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 5, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc., with the Rev. Garry L. Culler and the Rev. James O. Bolich officiating. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held Wednesday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Prince Street United Brethren Church, 17 North Penn Street, Shippensburg, PA 17257 or Spiritrust Lutheran Home Care and Hospice, 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17202.
