Terry Lee Helm, 87, of Shippensburg, passed away the morning of Thursday, March 20, 2025, at his home, in the care of his family and caregivers.
He was born on January 30, 1938, in Shippensburg, a son of the late John R. and Frances Keefer Helm.
Terry was a 1955 graduate of the Shippensburg High School. He was a longtime active member of the Shippensburg First Church of God where he was a Sunday School teacher, a trustee, helped with the children’s department, and drove and maintained the church van.
Terry was a retired Veteran of the U.S. Air Force and the Air National Guard, at the rank of Master Sergeant. He retired from the Letterkenny Army Depot after 25 years of service as a computer operator. After retirement, he drove truck for Kittatinny Manufacturing Services, Shippensburg.
He was a member of the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion, Post #223, Shippensburg. He played many sports and continued playing softball into his late 70’s. He was an avid Red Cross blood donor. He liked model trains and General Motors vehicles.
He is survived by two daughters, Karen (Mark) Reed and Leah (Gary) Schmitz, all of Shippensburg; two grandsons, Baden (Kristen) Reed and Luke Reed; a great-grandson, Wyatt Reed, and numerous nieces and nephews of three generations.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Dona H. Helm, who passed away July 12, 2022.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 3:30 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg with Pastor Rodney Bistline and Pastor Heidi Guyer officiating. Burial will follow at the Ridge Cemetery. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
