Terry D. Fritz, Sr., 67, of Carlisle, entered into eternal rest on the morning of Thursday, February 16, 2012, at his home with his family by his side.
He was born on September 1, 1944, in Chambersburg, a son of the late Richard D. and Betty C. Weaver Fritz. Terry was a 1962 graduate of Shippensburg Area High School and on August 10, 1968, he married Ms. Darcy A. Patterson, in Sacramento, CA.
Terry was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War, having served aboard the USS Mount Katami in the South Pacific during three tours of duty, enlisting on March 3, 1965 and honorably discharged on February 12, 1969.
Terry was a well known upholsterer and had his own business, Fritz Upholstery, for many years, until his retirement.
He was a life member of the Hub City Club, Shippensburg, the Mt. Holly Springs American Legion Post #674, the Carlisle VFW Post #477 of which he was the current Commander for 2011 – 2012, as well as for the 2010 – 2011 term. In 2011, Terry received the prestigious award of “All American Commander” which is a national award.
In his free time he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren, going hunting and fishing with his friends and “buddies”, especially his yearly fishing trips to Canada.
Terry is survived by his wife of 43 years, Darcy; his son, Terry D. Fritz, Jr. and wife Jessica.; his daughter, Carrie Wenzel, all of Carlisle; two brothers, George M. Fritz of Shippensburg and Scott M. Fritz of Hummelstown; eight grandchildren, Adrianna, Erika, Aiden, Leigha, Analiese, and Hadassah Fritz and Sage and Mallory Wenzel; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard L. and David F. Fritz.
A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 21, 2012, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg. The Rev. Kevin E. Hughes will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Viewing will be Monday evening from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, at the funeral home.
