Sylvia D. Cassner, 96, a resident of the Episcopal Home, formerly of Chambersburg, died Sunday, August 14, 2011 in Manorcare, Carlisle.
Born June 24, 1915 in Shippensburg, PA, she was a daughter of the late Ace and Elanora Hurley Killinger.
She retired from Tracey Fashions in Chambersburg and years ago worked at H.J. Heinz Company. Sylvia was a member of First United Methodist Church, Chambersburg and a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Burt J. Asper American Legion Post # 46, Chambersburg.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn E. Cassner who died January 6, 1972, three sisters, Frances Karper, Dora Palmer, and Mary Yohey, one brother, John Killinger, and a nephew, Ezra Karper, Jr.
She is survived by two nieces, Ida Showaker and Eleanora Boyles both of Newville, and a nephew, Perry Palmer of Walla Walla, WA.
Graveside services will be held Friday, August 19, 2011 in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg at 11 a.m. Officiating will be The Rev. Dr. Frances H. Norton. There will be no viewing or visitation.
