Stephen Fairchild

September 8, 1964 — March 14, 2015

Stephen A. Fairchild, age 50, of Chambersburg, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 14, 2015. He was born on September 8, 1964, in Georgetown, KY, the son of G. Arthur and Ritta B. Beierle Fairchild.

Stephen was a 1983 graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School, a member of the Glee Club, Esquires, and Choristers. He was a member of the Trojan baseball team and recipient of the Nelly Fox Sportsman Award in 1983. He played for numerous baseball teams including the Chambersburg Legion Teams, Chambersburg Maroons, and the Shippensburg University Red Raiders. He was a 1986 graduate of Shippensburg University with a degree in Criminal Justice.

Stephen was employed over the years at Scotland School for Veteran’s Children and for many years at the Franklin County Domestic Relations. His kindness and gentle encouraging nature was a blessing to the many clients that he served as a domestic relations officer. He was currently in the process of starting his own business as a legal advisor.

Stephen attended the King Street Church where he was a member of the church choir and the Band of Brothers Wednesday evening Bible study group. He enjoyed singing, playing his guitar, fishing, hunting, and watching Western movies. Above all he loved his family especially his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Stephen is survived by his wife, Barbara L. Fairchild; his children, Sarah-Lynn (Jeremy) Styers of Chambersburg and Tyler (Taylor) Fairchild of Newburg; his parents, Art and Ritta Fairchild of Chambersburg; his sisters, Sharon (Mark) Yost of Fayetteville and Sheryl (David) Tigchelaar of Guelph, Ontario; his grandchildren, Aine and Maia Styers and Collette Fairchild; his nieces and nephews, Emily Tigchelaar, Madison Yost, Jonathan Tigchelaar, and Noah Yost; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, George M. and Helen Fairchild and Jakob and Cecilie Beierle.

His memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m., on Thursday, March 19, 2015, at the King Street Church, Chambersburg. The Rev. David Tigchelaar and Dr. Stephen Flint will officiate. Interment will be private. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be entrusted to his granddaughter, Aine JoAnne Styers, who was diagnosed with Down Syndrome in January of 2014, for her future care and needs and should be sent to Orrstown Bank.
