Stanley Coons

Stanley L. Coons, Sr., 80, of Shippensburg, died Saturday, January 5, 2013 in the Carlisle Regional Medical Center.

He was born October 20, 1932 in McConnellsburg, PA. Stanley was a son of the late David F. and Irene Elizabeth Rhoades Coons.

Stanley retired from Conrail and was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post # 223, Shippensburg.

In addition to his parents Stanley was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia R. Coy Coons, two daughters, Bonnie R. Bowden and her husband Joe of Russellville, AR, and Debbie S. Jumper and her husband Dale of Newville, four grandchildren, Chris, Susan, Forrest, and Richard, three great grandchildren, Alexis, Brianna, and Carson, five brothers, David Coons of Walnut Bottom, John Coons of Newville, Jack, Thomas, and Marlin Coons all of Shippensburg, five sisters, Jean Keefer, and Bonnie Armolt both of Shippensburg, Alice Golden of Newburg, Connie and Darlene Kelley, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be private. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens.
