It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Spencer Lee Shaffer Jr., 29, of Newburg on September 7th, 2022.
Spencer was a beautiful, loving, free-spirited man, who loved his family very much and was always sure to make it known.
Spencer leaves behind a mother, Jody Oberton, who loves him unconditionally. When he needed anything, she was his person. Their bond is one of a kind and will forever be remembered. In addition, he has two sisters, Jaydah Reasner and Mikaela Oberton, a brother, Reginald Oberton Jr., his loving grandparents, Jeff Reasner and Deborah Townsend (husband Mike Townsend), as well as the mother to his children, Julia Hanks.
Spencer was a loving father to his two beautiful daughters, River Grace Isabella Shaffer (age five) and Isabella Lucia Sofia Shaffer (three months) whom he adored. His favorite times were spent with River out by the water with fishing poles in hand. No matter the size of the fish, the smile on his face would never fade.
Spencer enjoyed everything outdoors. He was an avid fisherman, hiker, and dedicated Sasquatch hunter. With years of practice, he had worked on his Sasquatch call almost to perfection. He enjoyed the calm, peacefulness of a quiet stream and any chance there was to lend a helping hand.
A remembrance of Spencer will be held Wednesday, September 14th from 10 am to 12 pm at Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. in Shippensburg. Services and burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to one’s favorite charity in honor of Spencer Lee Shaffer, Jr.
