Shirley Mae (Coles) Tuck

Shirley Mae (Coles) Tuck, 86, formerly of Philadelphia, passed away the morning of Sunday, February 2, 2025 at the Shippensburg Health Care Center.

She was born on October 14, 1938 in South Boston, VA, the daughter of the late Samuel Wallace and Myrtle Elizabeth (Hall) Coles. 

Shirley graduated from Halifax County Public Schools where she was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church. She married Thomas Edward Tuck on November 30, 1957. The two moved to Philadelphia, PA and joined the Providence Baptist Church, where Shirley sang in the choir and was a member of the Trustee’s Auxiliary. Later, she moved her membership to New Horizon Baptist Church where she also sang in the choir and was part of the Saturdays School Staff. Shirley worked as a school aide within the Philadelphia School District and continued to work/volunteer within the school district after she retired. Shirley also volunteered for the United Cerebral Palsy Foundation. 

She is survived by three children, Tammye A. Tuck of Carlisle, Ronald K. Tuck of Atlanta, GA, and Kimberly N. Tuck of Philadelphia; one granddaughter, Courtney Thompson of Carlisle; and one great-grandchild, Aivien J. Thompson. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four siblings, Frances Scott, Lennox Coles, Jerome Coles, and Wallace Coles. 

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Minister Ronald K. Tuck and Rev. Derrick Brown will officiate.
