Shirley Irene Cavins, 76, of Shippensburg, spent her last days surrounded by her loving and caring family, went peacefully home to be with our Lord & Savior on the evening of Monday, January 27, 2014.
Born on March 10, 1937, in McConnellsburg, a daughter of the late Henry and Roxie Lynch Truax; Shirley was a dear and kind lady; a caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother; totally dedicated to loving all of her family members unconditionally.
Shirley attended the Mongul United Brethren Church; a fantastic cook and good hugger; who also liked to go out to eat; was an avid reader and movie watcher; and loved to spend as much time with her family as she possibly could.
She is survived by three daughters, Wanda Sue Fegan of Columbus, OH, Denise Lynn Hornberger of Shippensburg, and Debra Ann (Michael) Franzoni of Orrstown; two sons, Samuel J. (Lori) Cavins, Jr. and C. Denver (Tracey) Cavins both of Shippensburg; step-son, Rev. William Robert Cavins of FL; five brothers, David Truax, Jr., Leroy Truax, Paul Truax, Henry D. Truax, and Bim K. Truax; two sisters, Betty Felty and Mary Lane; sixteen grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Katie, Debbie, Danielle, David J., Johnathan, Pamela, Amber, Tiffany, Jessica, Kye, Evan, Gage, Suzannah, and Zachary; seventeen great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel J. Cavins, Sr., who died on February 7, 2000; son, Michael L. Cavins; grandson, James Fegan, Jr., sister, Mary Barnhart, and brother, John Truax.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, January 31, 2014, at the Mongul United Brethren Church, Shippensburg. Pastor Rocky W. Spear will officiate. Interment will follow in the Mongul Cemetery. Viewing will be Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at church on Friday.
