It is with great sadness that the family of Sherry Mae Sanders announces her passing after an extended illness, on Thursday, November 1, 2018, at the age of 63 years.
She was born on August 12, 1955, in Chambersburg, a daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin Kunkleman, II and Goldie E. (Ingram) Bolen.
Sherry retired from the Letterkenny Army Depot as an Artillery Mechanic in June of 2000, after twenty-five years of service. In her free time she enjoyed camping, watching NASCAR, and trips to Las Vegas. Sherry always really enjoyed swimming and was known to say that she believed that she was born a fish in another life.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of fifteen years, John D. Sanders of Shippensburg; her son, Jeremy Thompson of Chambersburg; four sisters, Deborah (Kunkleman) Diehl and husband Larry of Shippensburg, Donna (Bolen) James and husband Douglas of Chambersburg, Arlene Bolen of Conway, SC, and Marilyn (Bolen) Thomas and husband Thomas of Chambersburg; five brothers, Clifford Gontz and wife Sarah of Shippensburg, Dennis Kunkleman and wife Joann of Scotland, Benjamin Kunkleman and wife Arliss of Shippensburg, Barry Kunkleman and wife Gail of Shippensburg, and Donald Bolen, Jr., and wife Tulay of Samsun, Turkey; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her mother and father, Sherry was preceded in death by her step-father, Donald S. Bolen, Sr., and one sister, Karen Lynn (Bolen) Johnston.
A private funeral service will be held for her immediate family in memory of Sherry, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Pastor Daniel E. Cluck will officiate. Interment will also be private. There will be no public viewing or visitation.
