Sherry Diane Gardner, 73, of Newburg, passed away the morning of June 1, 2023 at her home with her loving family by her side.

She was born on June 6, 1949 in Compton, California, the daughter of the late Jack T. and Jewel (Tarpley) Edwards. She married Robert Wayne “Bob” Gardner on January 12, 1973.

Sherry was a 1968 graduate of the Capital Hill High School, Oklahoma City, and worked as a seamstress for the Stanley Company. She loved playing bingo and quilting. Sherry was also a member of the Zion United Church of Christ, Newburg and the VFW Post #6168, Shippensburg.

She is survived by her spouse of 50 years, Bob Gardner; two sons, Nicholas W. Gardner of Shippensburg, and Brad E. (Rebecca) Gardner of Shippensburg; four grandchildren, Mason, Cohen, Grace, and Bronson; and four brothers, Carl T. Edwards of Mustang, OK, John “Rocky” Edwards of Breman, KS, Samuel Duell of Appleton, WI, and Michael Edwards of Marysville, KS.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Edward Duell.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. There will be no public viewing, visitation, or service at this time. A memorial service will be held a later date and time.
