Sheldon C. Staver, 87, a resident of Elmcroft of Shippensburg, died Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at the home.
Born October 8, 1928 in Shippensburg to the late C. Wilbur and Grace M. Swanger Staver.
Sheldon was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served at the end of WWII and during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Letterkenny Army Depot after 32 years of service. Sheldon was a member of the Shippensburg First Church of God where he taught Sunday School, and served on the church board for many years. He was a lifetime elder and was also involved with the Cumberland County Child Evangelism, having served on the Executive Committee.
Surviving are his three children, Wilbur R. Staver, Florida, Sharon R. Hollenbaugh (husband Robert) Newville, and David E. Staver (wife Joyce) Shippensburg, five granddaughters, and six great grandchildren. Also surviving is a step-brother, Robert Handshew (wife Linda) Shippensburg.
In addition to his parents and step-father, W. Burk Handshew, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary M. Woods Staver, infant son, Leroy A. Staver, one step-brother, and one step-sister.
There will be no viewing or services. Burial will at the convenience of the family.
