Sheldon L. Harris, 64, of Shippensburg, died on the morning of Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at the Chambersburg Hospital.
He was born on November 20, 1949, in Chambersburg, a son of the late Edward and Ruth Josephine Wingert Harris. Sheldon was a 1967 graduate of Shippensburg High School.
Sheldon worked in Maintenance and also as an Electrician for the Beistle Company, the Chambersburg Area Vo-Tech, and Ventura Foods. In the past, he was employed at several area automotive garages as a Mechanic.
He was a member of the Ridge Church of the Brethren. Sheldon liked to work with his hands professionally, in his occupation as a mechanic and then an electrician, as well as in his free time, he enjoyed woodworking. He had a shed full of tools that he had accumulated over the years, and if he didn’t have the tool you were looking for, then you didn’t need it. He also had a special bond with his dog Rory, whom he loved very much and was an avid Penn State fan.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, married on July 10, 1993, Susan C. Fleming Harris; his two children, James (Cindy) Harris and Kimberly Sullivan, both of FL; step-son, Rodney McHenry and his companion Tracey Furry, of Orrstown; one brother, Clyde (Judy) Harris of SC; and a number of grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Sheldon was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Harris.
His funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., on Sunday, June 22, 2014, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg. The Rev. Earl F. Stovall will officiate. Interment will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the services on Sunday, at the funeral home.
