Sheldon Lorne Dettwiler, 43, of Shippensburg, died unexpectedly on January 19, 2013, at the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born on February 15, 1969, in Ephrata, a son of Noah Lorne Dettwiler of Womelsdorf and Anna Marie Johnson Dettwiler of Shippensburg.
Sheldon was a member of the Rowe Mennonite Church. He was employed as a mechanic at Shank’s Lawn Equipment in Marion, PA, where he worked for 21 years. Sheldon was a friendly and loyal person who impacted the lives of many. He will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by one brother, Joseph Dettwiler of Shippensburg; two sisters, Cherye Dettwiler and Rosetta Saweros, both of Shippensburg; a special girlfriend, Marcie Newswanger of East Earl; paternal grandfather, Mahlon R. Dettwiler of Sinking Springs; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Sheldon was preceded in death by paternal grandmother, Alma Witmer Dettwiler; maternal grandparents, Arthur and Rhoda Layman Johnson; and an aunt, Ruby Johnson.
His funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on January 24, 2013, at the Rowe Mennonite Church, with the Rowe and Culbertson Church ministry officiating. Interment will follow in the Rowe Mennonite Cemetery. Viewing will be Wednesday, from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m., and one hour prior to the service on Thursday, all at the Rowe Mennonite Church, Shippensburg.
