Scott J. “Scotty” Thomas, 57, of Shippensburg passed away the morning of Sunday, November 15, 2020 at his home.

He was born on Thursday, January 3, 1963 in Chambersburg, a son of the late David R. and Saundra L. (Robinson) Thomas.

Scott was a 1981 graduate of the Shippensburg Area Senior High School where he played basketball, football, and track. Scott a.k.a. the “Master Blaster” was an explosives expert and worked as a blasting supervisor and pyrotechnician for Charles E. Brake Company. He also worked at Thomas Automotive for several years. Scott was an avid sports fan, coaching basketball and football for many different local organizations including the Scotland School for Vets, K.Y.F.L., and both Shippensburg Midget Football and Basketball leagues. He was also an avid fan of the Las Vegas Raiders.

Scott was a member of the Walnut Bottom Rod and Gun Club and was a past Exalted Ruler of the Elks Club, Chambersburg. He was also a member of the LeTort Star Lodge, Carlisle.

Scott is survived by his daughter, Chanel Thomas; significant other, Lisa Martin; three brothers, Eric (Dory) Thomas and Kevin (Jaymie) Thomas, both of Shippensburg, and James (Melissa) Thomas of Newville; and two sisters, Karen Thomas of Shippensburg, and Tracy (Richard) Gaines.

In addition to his parents, Scott was preceded in death by his sister, Danelle Thomas.

His funeral services will be privately held at the Brownsville Church of God with Pastor Vic Johnson officiating. Scott will be laid to rest in the Locust Grove Cemetery. There will be a public viewing on Friday, November 20, 2020 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. Those in attendance are asked to observe the recommendations pertaining to reducing the potential spread of Covid-19; wearing masks, hand sanitizing, and social distancing as much as possible.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 5051 Letterkenny Road, Chambersburg, PA 17201 or to the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation, www.diabetesresearch.org.
