Scott Alan Dunmire, 46, of New Cumberland, died Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at Harrisburg Hospital, where he had been a patient since suffering a massive heart attack late Friday night, Sept. 9.
Born November 1, 1964, in Chambersburg, he was a son of Doris M. Hedge Dunmire, Shippensburg, and the late William H. “Bill” Dunmire
Scott was a graduate of Shippensburg High School, and earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Shippensburg University.
He was a lab technician at ALS Global’s Middletown facility.
Scott was a lifetime history student, taking every opportunity to expand his knowledge of his favorite subject. He loved visiting historic sites and was looking forward to an upcoming trip to Williamsburg, Virginia.
In addition to his mother, Scott is survived by a brother, R. William “Bill” (wife Carol), and a sister, Barbara (widow of Jim) Thompson all of Shippensburg, three nephews, Levi, Shannon, and Noah Dunmire; two grandnieces, Lauren and Haley, and three grandnephews, Dylan, Dalton, and Devin; his “adopted” niece and nephew, Kaitlyn and Ian Thompson; several aunts and uncles and many cousins.
In addition to his father, Scott was preceded in death by his beloved niece, Maggie Dunmire.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, September 24, 2011 in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc., Shippensburg at 2 p.m. Officiating will be The Rev. Donald L. Herb and The Rev. Robert L. Mentzer. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the services in the funeral home.
